Hope you have had the chance to do part 1 of the exercise. Setting your vision as you wish. Not as someone else wants it to be. But as you want it to be. Like Steve Jobs said: ” People quit not because they are weak, but because they’re rational human beings. We will do only things that we are passionate about”. In order to create a compelling life, create compelling visions of what you want to create in your life. It’s this vision that will pull you forward when the road gets tough. When you get rejected, or when you simply have no desire to do anything.
The reason people don’t have a desire to do anything is because they don’t have a daily plan of action. If you want to make your life exciting, make sure you have a daily plan of action. Think of it as the building blocks of your vision. Your brain gets more focused and determined. Because you’re working towards an end result you want for your life. Knowing where you want to get is Part I. In part II we’re going to get into the reasons why you want to do it. This the reward section of your life. For your financial area of your life, let’s say you want to get $10K more per month because it will mean that you get to travel to China for 1 week with your family, and get to experience the culture. As you travel, you become more aware of the environment, you become more knowledgeable about the Chinese culture, new customs, new eating patterns. Your brain just gets rewired. Your family gets to enjoy it, and you get to reap the rewards of making an additional $10K, you get a brand new life experience. The green bills in your pocket feel great but it’s the unforgettable experience you get to share. That’s what’s most important. As humans, we want to get rewards for our efforts. Everything in life has a reward. Now, let’s not confuse reward with recognition. That’s a totally different subject. For now, let’s just focus on the reasons why you want to do it.
So, as you’re working on your journal. Write down the reasons why in every category of your life. Why do you want to lose 30 lbs? What does it mean? What’s the reward you will get once you achieve it? Internally, you will have a better circulation, endocrine, digestive system. But externally, what does it mean to you? For me losing 30 lbs in 30 days meant that it was proof that I can do whatever I set my mind to do. It meant feeling stronger. It meant that I loved my body. It also meant that I will be able to fit in my jeans. It meant that I will have a better emotional strength as my breathing improved. It meant that I will feel more energetic in life. It meant that I can tackle anything in front of me, no matter how hard it seemed. In your case, what does it mean, and what’s the reward you will get as you lose those extra 30 lbs?
Now, just make sure you write the reasons of what your visions means to you. Or why you want to do it? We’ll go about how to do it in the next part. I will give you 1 week to write as many reasons as possible as why you want to do it. We want to get the emotional part of this exercise in place first, before we go onto the mechanics. The how of the plan, it’s much easier than you think. Get to work, remember each minute counts.
